Back to overview

Optimum growing conditions result in optimum quality and yields. Plenty of good quality water is a basic prerequisite for this. The chemical composition of the water is an important factor when drawing up a fertilization plan.

Irrigation water for all crops should only contain a limited amount of sodium and chlorine, and the EC should not be too high. The damage thresholds depend on the growing conditions (the crop in question, the growing medium, etc). Where the drain water is re-circulated, it is important that there is no accumulation in harmful substances in the water. It is also important to ensure that drippers don't become blocked through contamination and that pathogens are not re-circulated around the system.

Identify the water quality in your business:

  • Input water in the reservoir
  • Composition of the nutrient solution
  • Composition of the drain water
  • Functioning of the disinfecting system

After the analysis you will receive a report with a clear overview of the measured values as well as practical advice. The results of the analysis will indicate what measures you need to take, whether in terms of fertilization or disinfection.

Basic chemical water analyses consists of the following parameters:
pH, EC, NH4, K, Na, Ca, Mg, NO3, Cl, S, HCO3, P, Fe, Mn, Zn, B, Cu, Mo, Si. Depending on the purpose of use additional parameters are available.

Method

Eurofins Agro analyses samples according to prescribed and established methods. The analysis report briefly describes the method. Here you can also see which method has been accredited by the Accreditation Council. We then put a Q after the method.

The pdf below (in Dutch) contains a detailed description of the methods. This document supplements the information on the analysis report.
